These early (dis) harmonies illuminate the origins of the New Wave. This reveals the adolescent zeitgeist of The Sisters of Mercy, The Cure and many epigones. As the exchange of "light and blindness," the simultaneity of stählener hardness, melancholic depression and sensitive empathy of Closer pushes deep into the mind. Who the late-70s knows of Manchester or the Dortmund North, safeguarded at home - whoever does not - freezes. The album leaves no doubt what leaving frontman Ian Curtis chose a short time later.
