Captain Haddock discovers an ancestor, like him by all physical and psychological traits, with Sir Francis Haddock. The noble relatives of the captain, sometimes wreck of his own addiction to alcohol, enhances its prestige in the eyes of the reader who discovered the character in "The Crab with Golden Claws".
