I now so use version 7. Prior to Version 5 was still in use, which (according to the update above) worked just fine really. Version 6 I skipped due to unconvincing innovations. So I will describe my experience as follows. The program runs on Windows 8 x64.
The installation and setup went smoothly. Negative I noticed the new interface, with the Ribbons from version 5, I could get used better. The control center is completely useless for me. After all, this interface provides simple keyboard shortcuts (F-keys). Since this is a completely new system, I decided to upgrade to version 7 and the associated argument "optimized for Windows 8". Where no one knows what will be these optimizations. After all, it should guarantee flawless operation - and exactly thus I did tempt me.
As usual, the program is stable and does his job. Although at first I needed several attempts to set up new tasks. A great pity, I find that can not yet be tasks always directly edit the program, you will be forced to edit the XML files externally or create completely new tasks. Here you could integrate a simple text editor. I have to strongly criticize the File Backup - here the File History is worth even more of Windows 8. Once several gigabytes of data to be backed up to restore the resulting archive it takes forever. The program will be "unresponsive" mixed state when you open the archive just in. I broke the process then violently off and left me still on the classical image.
Convenient is the integrated live update. The user therefore no longer needs to worry about updating the program version. Tasks can now be configured as a user and the generation of the starting medium now works out directly from the program. These are among others who presented new features of O & O. Who believes the upgrade may like to buy. By contrast, in my opinion, not worth it, if you managed directly by the previous version. Finally, the program does its basic purpose, namely the creation of images, still reliable.
