tragic but mesmerizing!

On seven occasions, according to the seven moon cycles (flowering, haymaking, harvesting, fruit etc.) we dive into the reincarnation of intrigues, all more or less startling, but ensuring always put at the heart of the action a couple cursed Erik and Merle, dedicated to the ultimate sacrifice. The twist in the story is certainly disconcerting but managed to charm us by its subtlety, grace and sense of dramaturgy.

It is also very romantic, but never mawkish. Marcus Sedgwick combines historical contexts (Viking, 2nd World War) to a fantastic fantasy (ghost, vampire etc.). And it is frankly stunning. I loved losing myself through time, through encounters and anecdotes around the same couple that continues to cross, and then end up getting lost. It's like listening to a story by the fireside, with flickering shadows on the walls, which are delicious shudder. You feel like spellbound!
