I was pleased with the MP 830, I again bought the flagship of Canon, now the MX 885. The functions are all available again, the New has some special little gimmicks and the panel has become a little more intuitive, I like pretty well. The speed is also felt better than the old MP 830, also here there's nothing to complain about. So far so quite 5 star.
Now comes the but that has moved me to deduction of two stars: the processing. I had feared it before ordering, the step of MP to MX is a step backwards. I noticed the same when unpacking that the MX 885 is significantly lighter than the MP 830, and that can mean in a printer not bode well. Unfortunately, this has confirmed operation for about 2 weeks now. Most parts are fragile and, consequently, not as reliable in operation. Both of the front cassette and (especially) the ADF I have almost every day a paper jam. I'm using the same paper as the MP 830 years, and in which I had, without exaggeration, a maximum of 5 paper jams in, mind you with really intensive use. The MP 830 had in the well 3 years not more jams than the MX 885 in two weeks ...
Let's see how things go on the MX 885, but to me that there are not more than 3 stars.
Oh, so the ultra-modern high-gloss black on the lid could have been even save yourself. Looks exactly 1 minute good, then it's just constantly dusty and now even scratched. The same on the center console of my Ford Galaxy, but this is not the issue here. Is what it takes to produce so cheap that it is now found everywhere? I hope this "trend" is back soon!
Update 09/08/2011: Less than 2 months later, I can confirm my above review. The feed error at ADF remained, with every second to third Fax I have a paper jam, that the sheets can not be fed from the ADF, stuck, can not be achieved by the rollers or not feeding. The MX 885 is in this respect a clear step back from the MP 830th
Update 11/09/2012: After some trial and error, the paper jam in the ADF have now become less, the normal paper feed I have virtually no more. When ADF seems to be the problem that the cover up is not optimal resting and therefore the rubber rollers, the paper may not feed properly. If you press the lid down a bit, it works flawlessly. I would now give 3.5 stars, but for now let rounded times at 3 stars. I for some time used the way, now the EzPrint Platinum cartridges that are qualitatively the original Canon cartridges at least equal, but cost only half. Problems (with the chips, etc.) so far there was no.
