However, I had bought the HDD based on the reviews (only 2 TB drive on the market with PS4 compatibility).
The decisive factor was the update of the firmware to version 2.50 PS4 in a Backup / Restore function for the PS4 is the first time available, as they are known from the PS3 for a long time. As my 500GB HDD was now so full that I had to uninstall games constantly, it should be the Samsung M9T.
Since I know the hard disk replacement already sufficiently of the PS3 and there never had any problems, I am approached accordingly a good mood on the exchanges on the PS4. Only a backup with the PS4 software to an external disk, then the firmware 2:50 on a proven USB stick packed (path: /PS4/UPDATE/PS4UPDATE.PUP) to initialize the Samsung M9T after installation. For the actual replacement of the HDD there are plenty of instructions and videos on the net ...
Now the problem. After starting in Safe Mode, the firmware from USB flash drive could not be used to initialize the PS4. And that was despite the "Update Firmware" the firmware via the menu item testweise correctly read from the stick.
In concrete terms, the error message CE 34788-0 "Connect The update file can not be used. A USB storage device from which contains an update file version 2.50 or later." Was issued (I have it, and again with a different drive also with the external hard drive is trying on the PS4 backup is. Here it is always with the same result.
Since I exclude a problem with the USB storage device and the update file, it may actually only be connected to an incompatibility of Samsung HDD. Or it is because of my PS4 (one of the first). Anyway, I am sorry to the Samsung M9T unfortunately return because it does not meet the real purpose.
But I would be grateful if someone possibly confirm the problem and I might still somehow can upgrade the PS4.
UPDATE 05/29/15:
Many thanks to the love users, who helped me with the problem! Unfortunately, I did not know that there are two different update files (firmware) for the PS4 (normal update or init firmware). I have now tried again with the 900 MB file for init and lo and behold, the system is running with the new Samsung hard drive! Therefore, 5 * for the HDD and once again thank you to the community!
PS: In the PS3 HDD exchange was nonetheless much easier because the new external installation of the firmware was not necessary here. Just drive in, automatic formatting and Go!
