Unnecessary Remaster of a brilliant album

Spiral (Remastered Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

The RCA disc from 1989 sounds in my opinion very good. I've been around for many years and I was unclear what Vangelis because wanted herumremastern. - But that's what I thought from Blade Runner Remaster - until I heard it. It was only then I realized what was really to get there yet out.

Here it's different: The current remaster of Spiral was absolutely unnecessary. This was probably also the people involved clear and made a remix instead of remasters. I especially hear it in "Dervish D" because something was screwed too much (in my opinion) on Hall and overall the song feels somehow different. Also, the bonus track "To The Unknown Man (Part Two)" has not really paid off for me. I think he - as 3 + 3 rather boring and unlock the CD for "To The Unknown Man has always been off.

Spiral, Ballad, Dervish D, To The Unknown Man are by far the largest works of Vangelis'. Therefore - remaster or not - complete 5 star. Because let hear good both CDs - might have younger who do not so much with the old synth music employ more joy at the new fresh sound and feel the old dusty something. - That depends on your preference.

Bottom line, I recommend the RCA disc from 1989th
