Well, what shall I start? When thinking now since "Scenes From A Memory" and 6DOIT: "Dream Theater will struggle to maintain the level" or even "A further increase is completely ruled out", you will be totally surprised with this new album with the fact that the guys. again release an album after such a short time, I did not expect. Two days before I found out about the new CD, I thought, "Well, they are now perhaps the first ideas have done ...". The existing almost entirely of longtracks CD has almost no dropouts - The song "Vacant" (5) with its three minutes by far the shortest song on the album and may be due to the absence of Portnoy and Petrucci (drums / guitar) and of the do not measure musical side with the other, but at this point a welcome change from the exceptionally tough style, the DT this has even chipped. The music is a bit darker than the previous, which is reflected in it almost entirely black cover and the utopian image. The rest of the songs are of the hammer - which starts with the opener "As I Am," which starts backwards and faster played conclusion of 6DOIT with, then reveals strange distorted guitar tones, then goes on a beating. Like listening the first time the CD is not yet fallen, but in my opinion, really good music is characterized by the fact that they "well" sound at the beginning, then hear the third time already well-like and continue to increase with each passing Anhörvorgang and is by no means annoying. Exactly this character has - as far almost any DT-CD - the new album "Train of Thought". The DT-typical absolute virtuoso instrumental passages of very exceptional talent Petrucci, Portnoy and Rudess let the heart of every DT fans beat faster (Mr. LaBrie has retained this time something in writing lyrics, but singing it absolutely satisfactory and appropriate). My personal favorite song on the CD is "Stream of Consciousness" (6) - initially slightly melancholic, but later evolving to absolutely brilliant Kracher, he quenches the desires of every Dream Theater Fan heart. Even well-beloved DT-typical sections with all the trimmings are incorporated: Rumgefrickel with hyperspeed, seconds rhythm changes and points with absolutely awesome composed staggered rhythms in almost every song. Overall, I have to say that the New Yorker for their new masterpiece not just have to be ashamed.
