The L90 is advisable in any case, for those who are now not necessarily the money for high-end devices a la Samsung S4 / S5 or the corresponding models of SONY / HTC / etc. want to spend. It is a thoroughly - also from price point of view - interesting alternative - and the jump from LG L7 II, which is about 1 year old in and there is also in the household, but then tasted in about the same amount, is palpable.
Let's start with the positives:
- Replaceable battery - I love this feature
- Compared to other smart phones in the house (eg Galaxy S4 Active) long maturities of batteries
- Simple, but very good workmanship, no open gaps, the cover can be attached neatly, nothing creaks
- Sufficient processing power, none of the known games in my collection jerky
- Very good video performance. Feature films in 800x450er format that have a relatively high data rate (3 Mbit / sec) run clean, tidy are sharp and I can not say that the colors would be unnatural
- Large, bright enough in the brightness display, no dead pixels recognizable
- Ordinary voice quality, both incoming as well as the partner at the other end of the line
- The L90 belongs despite thick battery of the lightweights, very pleasant.
- Little unnecessary apps compared to the Samsung standard, good standard apps for music and video.
- Camera / image quality in daylight shots
- Good menu navigation when you set up your smartphone for the first start.
- The first smartphone that has worked over Bluetooth everywhere without exception from the start. With so many smartphone had from time to time be fumbled, reboots etc. Connectivity properly into the car without any problems, address files via the export / import function.
- Expandable with micro SD card, apps can outsource externally to the SD card. 64GB card does not yet tried, my hat's my 64er unfortunately crumbles. Test will come.
so-so for my taste or neutral:
- The display is large and bright but I rate the black level rather than mediocre. Yepp, that costs in some places contrast, especially since I like to refer back to the movies. The night is never really quite dark, because this is an LCD display and not expressing an AMOLED display (in which the pixels and the value will be "black" known not only driven).
- The resolution is already almost borderline with 960 * 540 pixels in the display size. Who sooooo look closely sooo extreme, it is easy to see pixels.
- 8GB internal memory could be used for heavy users who upload a lot of apps that have already borderline today. For normal use reached's but still.
The above points may or may not be perceived necessarily as a disadvantage, but make sure the base is (in addition to the weaker nominal to the absolute top devices Processor) why it is here just for a mid-range model is certainly at a low price.
- Also I feel the Android version as so-so. What I miss (as with all recent versions) is the direct approach as a drive on Windows and not just as a unit. This applies to the card, such as for the internal memory. But can turn the phone not help it, should therefore be assessed as neutral, but want it mentioned.
- The image quality of the camera in low light is just about ok. Only mastered the least of smartphones this discipline. The LG is thus neither better nor worse than the general competition and is in the range of what can be expected for the price.
- Reception performance: WiFi sufficient better than the Samsung Mini 2, at about Samsung Galaxy S4 Active level but worse is true compared to the Samsung Ativ S. The same response to normal power.
- Relatively decent grip, the back is not slippery, a light structure helps to improve the grip. It could yet even safer in the hand for my taste.
- Compared to the L7 II lacks the visual indicator (green / red light around the Home button) for incoming messages. I do not mind it, my daughter, the L7 II uses would sorely miss - so neutral rating :-)
rather worse ...
... Is really just a Displin ... namely the sound quality through headphones. Here, the L90 provides a decent performance though tonally from, but it all sounds rather dull and somehow also flat. I'm testing here without Soundverbieger about partly more expensive headphones such as the Sony MDR Z-1000 or the new BOSE Smart True Around-Ear.
Compared to the best that I know of smartphones, the Samsung Ativ S: Here the music in default is more fun, the D / A converter and the analog section of the KH-output supplies in neutral setting (the ATIV S has no Soundverbieger) more power, more drive, more mood to want to play the music and the tonal top floors are much better resolved. Andersrum: The Samsung mini 2, which will now be replaced is, concerning the sound no worse than the L90. Too bad. In addition, the L90 at the max. possible volume still a ticking quieter than Samsung's, ie about iPhone level.
Knock-function not even tried.
No NFC functionality - does not bother me, I miss anyway the applications for it until today.
No trailer, no crashes, despite sometimes heavy use.
If the display still ticking the contrast and the sound quality would have been a cut above, there is the 5th star. So it is a thoroughly enjoyable Smartphone with very ordinary performance at an attractive price - and that's - I think - damn much.
