The lens meets all expectations with flying colors - the picture quality is consistently good, the autofocus motor quickly and the fixed (non-rotating) filter ring proves extremely practical as. Concerns whether the (repeatedly criticized) volume autofocus were quickly calmed: the autofocus is indeed audible but already lost at low ambient noise. But he's just fast. The processing of the lens is solid and leaves no wish unfulfilled. And the maximum focal length of 50mm is quite an advantage - you can use the lens as "50".
The only improvement suggestion would be the zoom lock in addition to the existing lock at 17mm another at 24, 35 and 50mm to spendieren (so would be a quasi-multi-hard lens ;-)
My recommendation: If you want a very good zoom lens in this focal length range and not want to spend about 900Euro for the Canon 17-55, with the Tamron 17-50 f / 2.8 well served, the price-performance ratio is appropriate.
