Well .. strengths and weaknesses balance each other out ...

The film polarized. The early scenes are well done, surprising and gloomy. Initially, the film raises great expectations, so I could not understand the negative reviews here. Whether you have to necessarily see here a reference to the well-known games or expect - well that may each decide for themselves that would be for me rather secondary in terms of rating.
Since I generally do not write reviews spoiler (everyone should enjoy the film itself without what is anticipated), I will not miss the great storyline.

As mentioned earlier it starts expectantly, an exciting, varied Silent Hill dignified atmosphere to come. Act partially predictable? Yeah, if you already refers to the series of games, one can foresee certain developments.
Unfortunately, the film leaves the middle and then towards the end, for ever more. It acts then clapped then more and more. The Story ripples just then. Profound dialogues I had not already expected with such a film (which was also the first part is not), but already, the little background story develops and we do not - to just jump from scene to scene - it is quasi pushed through the story ,

Therefore also 2 star deduction from me. A grandiose masterpiece of this genre is the movie. Outstanding good either - rather mediocre. Without the great start I could have forgiven a star less here. And yet: The film has entertained, popcorn cinema for the couch at home, but also nothing you again and again all would.

Who wants to be sprinkle a little, which is right here. Only its own expectations should start rather low - at least if one is based on the first part. As a stand-alone horror film with some bloody deposits the film is entertaining, but nothing more.
