What is typical Pink Floyd ???

The Division Bell (Audio CD)

Customer Review

I have all the albums of Pink Floyd. And this group has managed to shape my musical tastes later. My first album was "a momentary lapse of reason". From then on, I have slowly moved towards the past. While this album character easily went through his rock-pop ear, I had major adjustment problems in the other initially. But unlike the aforementioned album I listen to the old records still with enthusiasm, while the newer ones are already jaded. In "The Division Bell" The situation is no different. The sound is polished smooth and pleasing, is the crowd's ear and as rapidly many fans back out.
After the departure of bassist Roger Waters, it seems to me as if the albums deep, magic and intensity was taken that into a typical staggered into the atmosphere. But what is the typical Pink Floyd atmosphere? The one constant that all albums together, the complex integration of natural sounds in the songs.
This album starts with the noise, the footwear caused on fresh snow (it is, is not it ??) and ending with the rhythmic sound of a single bell. Both songs are terrific: "Cluster One" manages to mutate from one to the next second by a pure sound collage in a real instrumental piece. And in the final, melancholy "High Hopes" Figures 3/4 Floyds again their "typical" style: an atmospheric and soulful entry with a discontinuous Klimax. Therefore, it is no wonder that almost everyone (including me) is excited by this song.
On this album ends almost all the songs in a live langatmigem typical guitar solo finale. This makes the album somehow sluggish and conceals a guaranteed existing lack of ideas. Let us recall, for example, to "the dark side of the moon". As one song goes into the other - the result, if you can then end a song when the musical theme was exhausted - not like on this album, in which it seems as if all songs exceeding the 6-minute mark have.
At that time, the music also had an overall concept - the album as a complete work, no conglomeration of individual songs like on "Division Bell" and "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason". But as I said, it is supposed to be there for each consumer a bite. But why not !? Finally, I am always glad that the album as songs like "What Do You Want From Me", "Keep Talking" and "Lost For Words" has. Each reader the list fails guaranteed different, but most of them are determined reasonably happy with the album. The aim would be achieved for everyone involved. However, this strategy never a milestone arise no album with rough edges, which slowly settles down into naurale memory, there to remain until the CD is ausgenudelt (mine is the "Meddle").
"The Division Bell" is just a typical late work. Maybe I'll live to see it that Pink Floyd again publish after several best-of's and other compilations, the world does not need, an album. Without the reunion with Roger Waters, I'm not particularly enthusiastic towards the fibers release date.
PS: The beautiful presentation of the album has a downer. Break the black CD holders from inside, it is also from the lateral symbols including Braille goodbye, you want to replace the black disc tray.
