For me, the IR remote control works on my Sony A65 DSLR immediately. The Camera is set to remote triggering, unpacked remote, removed foil from the battery bay and off we went ...
Test photos as a closed room "immediately" and 2-second trigger: both properly. Also the beginning and end of Bulb-shooting function.
Remote control is small and has relatively dibasic. Ideal for the pocket on the go.
