Graphics:
The graphics of Donkey Kong Country - Tropical Freeze I really liked, and this point is not me personally so important. I play games since the early 80s and am therefore not spoiled. One can describe it as a HD update of its predecessor, the best graphics. Varied, colorful, comic-like and with some nice gimmicks in the third dimension. More importantly, however: it is liquid. In the levels are / were with me no lags, Framerateinbrüche, tearing or the like. So must now actually be standard manner.
Sound:
Once again wonderfully positive Jungle rhythms but also meditative sounds in the game. The sound accompanies good mood throughout the levels. Nevertheless, I have no earwigs from the predecessor, but that is my subjective opinion and can be completely different from other gamers.
Gameplay and Game Design:
So! We come to the very core: I think DKC: TF plays a good option. I opted for the "old" control by Wiimote and Nunchuk, because as I've already played the predecessors on the Wii. The inputs are working properly, the control is precise and you really have control over the Affenbande. The game design decision to make now two Kongs as a partner, I think a good idea.
However, they quickly (at least I was doing so) that the choice of partner usually amounts only to Dixie Kong. She has basically the same jump-improving properties like Diddi, only that you win a little with her towards the end even at altitude. And that makes it much easier - and in some cases only possible - to discover some secret areas.
Diddi and especially Cranky Kong are no longer necessary. Especially Cranky I did not like so well. With it, the game is the same time a corner harder, since you jump here only higher, but can not maintain itself in the air.
The world (s) in DKC: TF like me well, I find them but not as varied as in the predecessor. Above all, the titular Eisthema comes, I think, vieeeel too short. In addition, I can today, just four days after my last time playing, not even tell you how to distinguish the worlds exactly. ÖÖhm, jungle, Alps, Africa, Wasserl, jungle fruits, moment .... jungle and Donkeys island (actually yes jungle) iced up. That tells me at least my memory today. But a good innovation is the change of camera angle (s): In the first level you will crisscross geballert through the treetops. In later levels, the camera perspective assumes ludicrous angle when it comes straight down, for example in the mine cart per schuss.
BUT: the bosses would like may be more Viking-like and innovative. Auche the last final battle was a bit cheap - compared to its predecessor simply too short to unepisch and simple ... what to us
Difficulty
brings! Since the opinions seem indeed to go reasonably compliant. We read so much good stuff here, from "hard" to "hard as hell" over "so difficult that even have to suffer under it the rating".
Well, I think a walk is DKC: TF under any circumstances. It must not also. Casual games there - especially when Nintendo - a dime a dozen. Because you just would be sometimes a challenging game. I confess: I left sometimes a lot more than 40 lives in some K-levels. The greater the joy but then when you have finally made it - and that too with all the puzzle pieces! But one does not have to gamble through each level to 100%. Here differentiated Nintendo, I think, very good. One can mE well as less experienced players well through most levels come (mine and rocket barrel Levels times excluded) if you practice something. And for all the other players the rest is just meant.
Only as far as my opinion. If the game is objectively difficult now? YES! Is it difficult unschaffbar? NO! I found the previous example, as much heavier. Similarly, the last two levels of Super Mario 3D World. And New Super Luigi U I for 2 levels only once for a few months aside. So it's all relative ;-)
One here on the edge: I think the biggest improvement compared to its predecessor is the abolition of Super Kong, could a failure after several playing. How far we have come, then?!? Since I buy a lot of money for a game and leave it then gamble on the AI! Since I can interject equal ne Blu Ray or let me NEM Let's Play Keep the fun!
Conclusion:
Mir has DKC: TF lot of fun. It invents the banana is not new (the Nintendo mE has anyway no longer managed for a long time), I felt but a good week very lively pace and above all entertain ... magnificently. This game manages, despite some small design flaws, the good old Nintendo feeling conjure up in one, which you have when you play one of the old classics. By comparison, this is my opinion, Super Mario (in whatever form) to date have failed on the Wii U. Unfortunately, it is now so that one gets nachgeschmissen on every corner video games. In e-shops or as free apps ... The result is that you look at failure or smaller stagnation quickly another game dedicated instead stay tuned - and that leads then stop sometimes to one or another bad review frustration. Too bad, because this game really deserves it, that by biting her until (bitter) end.
