Customer Review

Unlike the self-titled debut City of Heroes works much less rough and much more symphonic. While many of the songs of the first album still could pass as melodic metal, is converted here a lot more on the paths of symphonic metal รก la Nightwish and his associates to give some more already have to speak of Symphonic Rock. Of course, no surprise, some fellow come yet (including Somerville itself) from the rock-meets-Classic occupation. All songs are provided with atmospheric keyboard carpets, orchestral elements or polyphonic vocal arrangements and highly catchy. These melodic guitar licks and solos are served, who never seem out of place and miss the songs the finishing touch. The production is heavy, the vocals of Kiske and Somerville come across very transparent and have been placed in the foreground. Both also complement each other vocally outstanding. Negative is noted that, with the quality of the songs a little downhill from the ballad Ocean of Tears, the very entlangschlittert bordering on the kitsch. The only exception here is encased in a beautiful polyphonic chorus therefore coming after the night is over. One can criticize sure all very calculated and ironed acts. On really new ideas is lacking in fact and there will be enough people who dismiss this form of music rather than metal, but as pop with a bit of bass, drums and guitar. Despite minor weaknesses Kiske and Somerville set with this album in the genre but a big exclamation mark.
