The son of a full moon T01: Dangerous Temptation (Paperback)

Customer Review

The author Eileen Wilks draws the reader into a world of magic and the modern world coexist in an uneasy alliance. Lily Yu is a newly promoted inspector San Diego police criminal who must investigate a series of grisly murders that seem to be the aeuvre of a lupine. To hunt down the killer, she must infiltrate clans, one man can help the prince Rule Turner clan Nikolai, whose charismatic presence disturbs many Lily. Rule has its own reasons to help the investigation, why he does not want to reveal from the young woman and we discover gradually as the investigation unfolds. The political reason, the hierarchy of clans and their differences require to keep their distance, but the attraction between them is immediate and devastating, they spend more time together over their rapprochement seems inevitable, despite the fact that Lily has a hard time Trust Rule.

At first reading the back cover I thought discover a classic paranormal romance with originality just as a young woman of American-Chinese with a small gift, but I would say it is more urban fantasy with romance but included that is not the history link. The mystery is the anchor of the story and it is obvious that Eillen Wilks is happy to weave multiple son as a real spider web to send us several directions, different facets and multiple points view requires you to reflect continuously on who the killer is. This type of narration when it's done is really exciting and you are soon fully immersed in the plot.

One very interesting point of this story is the world created by the author through which the werewolves she exudes a very subtle way his views on discrimination that exists today to the people "inconsistent" standard. Werewolves or rather Lupins are recognized as full persons only if they are attacked or killed in human form by cons in their animal form they can be murdered without warning. Before having access to this partial recognition, they had the obligation to be registered and tattooed by force if necessary reminding us some dramatic historical facts and hear almost total extermination of a population.

I enjoyed this book that a neat and well constructed story that mixes great magic, the police investigation into a rapid pace with touches of humor. The secondary characters are undeveloped (but I think they will be more detailed in the following volume) and especially the relationship between the two heroes, their relationship follows a normal course, with sex scenes but it does not short the cuitent unfolding of the narrative. Not everything is solved at once which makes sense given the context, Lily is a female character with his character and his ideas, it does not change overnight, it keeps its personality.

I think some people will find similarities in the female character with Mercy (superb series which I love) but we must go beyond, Eileen introduced a different writing style and his own ideas, for my part I would read the Volume suivantsans hesitation.
