This is a special book, difficult to assess. I think love or it does not. I am therefore not surprised to be the first to put 3 stars, a way of saying "average". So why? because I have not hooked on history, too long, too slow. But we must admit that the author writes very well, that this novel is full of interesting historical information, the characters are believable and well described (you'd know them, live with them). This is in addition to an exciting time and you learn a lot about the London that day, on the morals of the bourgeoisie, the social classes. The atmosphere a little "Gothic", dark and slightly fantastic, gives the whole an atmosphere quite great. Yet I said, I could not join and I stay on my hunger ... Also, despite all these literary qualities, I remain, in the end, very mixed.
