To go further
Scott Westerfeld: a name not unknown since métait jen have often heard about the Uglies saga (which I have not read but I plan to do one day). This new trilogy seemed ideal to dive into the universe of the author and denfin discover a great name in YA literature.
The story cleverly reworked the myth of vampires, making a simple legends echo the famous V Virus. Two types of people can be recognized as Peep (Positive to Parasite): those who contract the disease and become starved of fresh, fearful to light but sharp and quick and those who are only carriers that have some capacity but not sink into madness.
Cal is the second category. His mission: to find all people of his genealogy; this is to say to young women that it could contaminate via sex. But then that he is also looking for his parent, it will be terrible discoveries
Cal is a character that I have not loved but I found logical and composed. We follow him with a measured pleasure and revelations which he confronts lead us to reconsider continually history.
Lacey, the second main character of this novel is a friendly girl too, without being transcendent.
To summarize, I think I enjoy them both but did not have the spark that really endeared maurait of this unconditional love that one can bring to a character.
What i like most about this book this is basically rewriting the mythology of vampires / zombies and creatures of the night. The writing of Westerfeld is also very nice, it handles very stressful scenes and the final rollover situation has piqued my curiosity. Too bad the story end there because actually V Virus is an exclusively introductory volume, which presents the background and to my regret interesting things started a little late.
The "popular science" side is also very interesting. A chapter two will develop a point on existing pests and this is consistent with the rest of the novel. It sometimes cut a little story but I liked reading these short pass even sil Mount rendered completely paranoid.
Already parasites that scared me, so now I sing Result "Happy Birthday" while washing my hands to have the exact timing and I know I never will pee in an exotic river.
