Myself French, having married an English and now living in France for 10 years, with our two children, a boy aged 11 and her sister 8 years, I cried bitterly during the first 120 pages of the book. .. Even though we never had to go through these unbearable hardships, I was inconsolable, as all spoke to me: children, husband and in-laws of Justine, their life, their habits, their conversations, their ... A distress accuracy of tone that touched me deep.
Unfortunately, I am not attached to the second part of the book, although important to the course of history - I look forward to the end in order to move on ...
I reread this book on occasion, but this time in VO!
