So this is the first studio CD of Emilie Jeanne-Sophie Welti Hunger, who calls herself an artist Sophie Hunger. The first CD release under this name, "Sketches On Sea" has she taken even in the living room and even expelled, with amazing success by the way. As quite a bit is amazing at this extraordinary young woman: it is an absolute godsend for today's music scene. She alternates between styles without pride themselves on this record you can hear folk songs, rock, jazz side by side, everything is authentic and genuine, something like "Solos" there are not (except for "drain pipes" where Michael Flury ( tb) gives an idea of what else he has on it). Ever everything is used very sparingly, in some songs, Sophie accompanied only himself on the guitar or the piano, and sets the band, if at all, later, and then not completely. This reduction is beneficial and dramturgisch done well - and of course it corresponds to the essence of each song. Most importantly - her voice, and almost more as they use them. Sometimes she staggers seemingly by the rhythm and expands the timing to the limit - and thus a power of expression, which one can not escape. Then there are again vocal outbursts as in "The Tourist" or turn "drain pipes" that go vastly under your skin. She is always perfectly safe in the design of their lines, and these lines are built always excellent, in a wonderfully contradictory and vivid lightning clever lyrics. Just a pity that the occurring in the Swiss release song "Mirror Image" (a duet with the Swiss songwriter Stephan Eicher) at the German (and Austrian) Issue missing - they wanted us apparently the Swiss German the songs do not expect. And what this board naturally missing is the live atmosphere that decided to fascination of this musician belongs: The mixture of fragility and strength of conviction and uncertainty is a very strange and touching moving experience. On their first, self-made CD she sings in the song "The Travellers" of the Swiss songwriter Walter Lietha "... and i want to au endless drive and EU wonder offebare ...". In this way it has gone clearly what you have to congratulate us and wish her well.
