Absolutely maximum

Released in 1970, between Morrison Hotel and LA Woman, Absolutely Live album is the curse of the Doors, live their record company for 30 years vainly trying to make us forget, shuffled to the CD reissue, of up to erase thoroughly their official discography.

Say it right away, it is true that some are content to live in public stacking the tubes of a group, not at all, but then not at all, if Absolutely Live.

First, there are no tubes neither Light My Fire or Hello I Love You, nor Roadhouse Blues, or even The End. Then you should know that half the tracks on this disc were not found on studio albums. Half. And no small beer, not the filling: a Dantesque version of Who Do You Love (Bo Diddley), two blues (Build Me A Woman and Close To You), a beautiful ballad (Universal Mind, where one crosses the theme of jazz Afro Blue), several improvisations (Love Hides, Dead Cats Dead Rats), and above all, masterpiece, a long series of flush or The End When The Music's Over: The Celebration of the Lizard .
Absolutely Live is not a disc is a documentary, the living experience of a performance of The Doors, directed by Paul Rothchild, the producer from the beginning, from a half dozen concerts recorded in 1969 / 70.

But there are more. Jim Morrison of Absolutely Live has nothing of the poet hunk posing shirtless for the ladies that they are handed in each photo on Best Of The Doors for 30 years. It's a haunted Morrison, owned, engueulant the public amid When The Music's Over, screaming his morbid visions (Dead Cats Dead Rats, The Hill Dwellers). Intro, the concert organizer, panicked, announced that the police will not let the Doors play as the audience will not be calmed.

This was apparently too much for some. From the 80s, the album went to the door, waiting for 1991 to come out in CD, repackaged laboriously under the imaginative title of "In Concert", coupled with another album (Alive She Cried). In 1996, the album spring in its initial version, but for some reason, without the original cover, replaced by another photo, without any interest. Worse, all the boxes supposedly grouping the complete Doors have been cut from this album, yet essential.

5 stars, maximum. Too bad for the wallet betrayed. Buy this disc. If you have not listened Absolutely Live, you never listened to the Doors.
