Illusions (MP3 Download)

Customer Review

Like on "Habuda" is "illusion" of "Thomas Bergersen" a debut feature. Except that it has already produced several albums with "Nick Phoenix" together, under the name "Two Steps From Hell".

To find words for this very successful work, always is difficult to me. Since the album "Illusion" very deep and thoughtful acts on me. Sometimes one might also equal rushed out of the window, because the scope of the music touches all feelings. On the other hand are also very Genre Typical titles here, which ensure a certain "balance" of the album.

If you already the first track "Aura" listen, you get goosebumps. The title begins with several beautiful staccato violins and in the background you can hear a bit of strange synthesizers. The violins are supporting the main theme, and your soon joins a quiet chorus. From 3:20 the choir goes along with the French horns in a kind of exploding and very spherical music, and all the sound masterpiece finally begins to spread like a kind "redemption". All grief and sorrow suddenly disappear and the long river of life gushing forth to himself.

One of the 19 titles, is particularly dear to me. "Gift of Life" is, in my opinion, been rather hidden for me. Tucked away because he noticed me only sonically much later, and has hidden behind the shadow of the subsequent title "Rada". Yes, "title order" is also a science. The title is very swinging and for me in a melancholy and longing. As the waves slowly spread on the water brandishing a violin its notes. First, you start very "timid" and "shy". It was only when another violin, like a friend coming to help, start up of the anxiety and depression break. When you succeed, she accompanied a beautiful female voice. What can I say, simply masterful, just breathtaking.

"Homecoming" and "Promise" are the other two highlights of the CD for me. Both are accompanied by a woman's voice and finds it "swell" of a voltage instead. In poetry it is called a "retarding moment". Similarly, it is also here, the voltage increases and suddenly hears the magnificent choir, flute and trumpet playing and the whole orchestra is again and now misses all powder, a true enjoyment explosion takes place.

"Immortal" is similar, in terms of "retarding moment". How do I find it is quite typical for the genre. We have here the soloist, the violins and drums and drums rhythmically sounding main theme, similar to a rock title play.

But now a few shiny beads come to light. Mr. Bergersen has probably grabbed the best with the end. The title "Remember Me" is this pearl. The piece begins slightly playful. The piano has a very catchy melody and is supported after a while by a violin. Both "inflate" slow in coming, and it is similar to "Gift of Life" an explosion instead, which is supported by a choir.

The last two titles, for my subjective opinion on the album are "Age of Gods" and "Soulseeker" - for the hard bombastic theatrical among us. Drama and action comes here quite to bear, and choir and hard drums reunite to a steely title. These titles are simply the genre trailer, and underline the very values dramaturgy, megalomania and absolute hardness. For me wiedermal a real pleasure.

Thomas J. Bergersen has managed. As a special gift, which one does not want to tear up the same, but can be time slowly to open the package, this album developed only over time is a conscious what has been present here -. Say an epochal, ingenious masterpiece or as the English would "An awesome masterpiece!"
