There are not many records of my youth, I can still hear like or love again. Some come to me now somewhat "dated" before, in some things I know - now - that there really is better and usually my musical horizon has just extended to me the old stuff often simply happen something simple knit. Not so with this record: Sure, here you can hear clearly through the late 70s and early 80s, although the Talking Heads also then clear off moving every mainstream. What about this record but excited is the incredible freshness of the former band, what the live recordings much more clearly comes across as on the studio albums. The sound is as clear as edges, the band sounds fresh and spontaneous, David Byrne seems to sparkle with ideas so. The songs stuck me with her irritating, distanced, ironic and cynical humor after 20 years back again, so much seems to be the world (or the way I see them) but have not changed ... "The Name Of This Band ... "also offers not least an excellent outline of the development of TH in their most creative phase from 1977 to 1981, in their music from year to year has been complex and intense. Very funny and eloquent are already the photos of the band on the cover: In the front we see the Talking Heads at a gig in a living room in front of a window with curtains stuffy. On the back then the band with guest musicians on the big stage. "The Name Of This Band ..." documented the way the band from the living room to fame. Together with the second live album of TH "Stop Making Sense" you can witness the career of Heads again in concentrated form here. And that is just as fun and exciting as witty travel.
