In what genre category should I assign "Matangi" I find it very difficult. It's like their previous album a mix of electronica, hip-hop, R & B and traditional Hindi music, so to speak as a soup with various ingredients.
Some songs were published in 2012, such as the single "Bad Girls". The songs "Come Walk With Me" & "Atention" were leaked 2012 by MIA herself as demo versions on the internet and now you can see some differences in what has been changed or added.
My favorite so far "Matangi" (reminds me of the song "Bird Flu" from their 2nd album Kala, but sounds very crazy), "Sexodus", "Bring the Noize", "Lights", "YALA", "Double Bubble Trouble "&" know it is not right ".
The latter song sounds like a pure R & B track, but I do not mind, because it sounds great!
If you are unsure, you should listen to the album on their YouTube channel, there is a stream ready. I am very pleased with Matangi and the long wait aufjeden case was worth.
