Like many I hesitated between Canon and Lumix TZ6 or 7: how to choose between 2 devices having similar characteristics if? My choice was finally made on the Canon for 2 main reasons. The first is the speed of taking photos with the Canon it flows 0,4sec. between the trigger and the taking of the photo, so that this time is more than double (0,9sec.) with the Lumix; this difference is significant for certain subjects like the flight of birds. The second is the greater possibility of manual trimmings. Further technical information provided online seemed to give a benefit to Canon's Light for Macro: the shortest distance shooting would 2cm whereas it would 3cm with the Lumix. Incidentally I had noticed that the Canon allowed the use of an external flash. The only point on which I gave the advantage (significant) is the Lumix wide-angle 25mm against 28mm Canon. After 2 weeks of using the Canon I do not regret my choice especially as I had the pleasant surprise to find that he has a super macro mode for pictures of subjects against the lens. However I regret the lack of printed instructions. I also regret (but I knew before buying) there is no possibility to obtain power by batteries, and the absence of rotating screen. I hope these comments of an amateur photographer for almost 45 years ... but who still considers himself a beginner, will be useful.
