The BP40 is a great device that reads and writes Blu-ray 3D M-disk, and of course most other DVD. The M-disks last much longer than normal DVD, since the data is burned in the hard substrate and not just an end layer. Unlike cheaper units, the BP40 comes with a complete suite of applications, CyberLink Media Suite 10, including LabelPrint, MediaExpress, MediaShow, PowerDVD, PowerProducer, etc. This is not the latest version 12, which alone cost 90, but it appears that v.10 already know everything. I had no trouble reading 3D Blu-ray discs (eg Planet Dinosaur 3D) with PowerDVD in 2D or 3D. I do not have a 3D compatible screen on my Windows 7 PC, but otherwise everything works as advertised. The BP40 is small, lightweight, seems well made and DVDs are loaded quickly. It costs a little more expensive than other writers, but with the software and more.
In addition to M-burn disc for archiving, I'd be able to rip my Blu-ray discs to my server so I can access it more easily. CyberLink can not do this for DVDs protected against copying, but other software, like Pavtube can.
