The tea master (Paperback)

Customer Review

I understand that this book will irritate. Objectively, the story is very thin, if not it happening absolutely nothing; simply we discover pages the art of tea ceremony in the style "simple and healthy" and a few snippets of life in Japan during the Middle Ages.
But it is precisely this minimalist style and lack of adventures that I have loved in this story. There prevails a form of "zen", a quiet especially sensitive and fragile that we perceive in the background the atrocities caused by the wars that are tearing Japan at that time.
I was touched by the style of Yasushi Inoue, but I well understand that we can not be. For those who prefer less static and descriptive novels, I would recommend authors such as Haruki Murakami (eg its superb "Chronic bird spring")
