Actually, I'm more than 25 years diehard Nikon fan. After my Nikon SLR has suffered in recent Icelandic summer arg and me through the rain many motives have been lost because I could not do that to the poor camera, the decision was made, an outdoor to purchase camera. It is logical that there should be a Nikon. However, the many negative reviews of the Nikon AW stopped me 110 but then the purchase from.
It has then become an Olympus TG-830. This I have now tested for 3 weeks intensive.
Where do I start? Perhaps the fact that I have read too many tests and reviews where the poor image quality of the Olympus was highlighted.
So I grabbed the camera, have charged the battery and began to take pictures first test images in the home. This I immediately loaded and checked on the computer. Oh dear, the poor rating to vote seemed. Noise without end, somehow blurred. Well fine! On the first day I put away the camera in frustration.
Later, I even checked the image parameters by the very good info function and surprised that the camera selects an ISO value of 1600 and higher. I had photographed in the iAuto function. There, the camera selects the scene and automatically adjusts itself accordingly.
Well, I try to stop in the normal Program AE again. And you! Much better. With this setting, I finally took the camera to where it belongs. Outwards. There I shot under all possible and impossible light photos. Whether it rained or the sun shone. No matter, is indeed waterproof. And what can you say? The pictures are ok clear, not so great as the SLR. Aberund now comes the real: the SLR I would not have taken under these conditions.
Over time, my Olympus was always sympathetic. It is handy, robust and very easy to operate. And it always surprises me positively. The quality of the filming is for such a small box amazingly well. When I took a close-up, the really good macro function noticed. And so on.
Now to the conclusion: The OlympusTG-830 is a jack of all trades. In many disciplines, they will surely loose surpassed by other cameras. But in the sum of its properties, it proposes bravely and therefore: thumbs up!
So if I did not already have the TG-830, I would buy me.
