The Game:
In an open world of enormous size (min. San Andreas), the character moves freely walk, mostly on horseback, by coach, train or a teleport function.
In single game is initially only available New Austin (bridges locked), in multiplayer but you can also visit all other areas.
In this world is enormous offer which, for example, a pronounced wildlife or many spontaneous acting side missions, different mini-games, other tasks such as catching wild horses and break in, chase wild, collect herbs, cattle herding and a tw new multiplayer concept. And then of course there are the missions for various clients, through which you will be guided through the story.
The Story:
John Marston is an outlaw of retired, set by the government under pressure to track down his former gang members and render them harmless.
For he is sent into the borderland New Austin, a contact person leads him to this men's him just zap. But he survived and supplied on a farm and learn first how to ride, shoot, fighting and chasing before then start the first real missions.
It is noteworthy that Marston is actually completely not an evil, bloodthirsty killer but rather a good guy. Accordingly, the story basically after the live-and-let-live principle oriented times. To subdue opponents alive is clearly rewarded if it is not a self-defense situation. But you can also let the pig out and draw a trail of violence across the prairie.
The Chart:
Similar to GTA IV, maybe a bit better, but not more.
Without a direct comparison even when the PS3 version does not feel that the image is bad.
I found it a little was too dark but the menu the brightness, adjust the contrast and saturation optimally.
Jerking or graphical errors I can not understand, at least not in New Austin.
To emphasize is the diversity, because unlike GTA you here very often a really great foresight. The sky alone is always really a work of art, the horizon looks authentically with every move. In canyons that light and shadow game is really great and sometimes touches the shadow of a bird of prey on the ground in front of a. Ever have just the shadows in a sunset really awesome and really well is the night and the starry sky.
Sensational well done are the faces in the Einspielesequenzen. Slowly the line between film and animation.
The Control:
As I said, who knows GTA coming super clear with Red Dead Redemption.
Riding is really easy, faster and faster as you would expect, is new, there is a sort of cruise control, you can maintain a certain speed for longer and the Gaul adheres more or less on the way. Socially, you can take the speed of the other.
When shooting one has an automatic targeting system allows relatively well intruding on to all the targets (including animals that pass through an exchange of fire). This can be changed on the level of difficulty. (Not tried)
The Dead-Eye aiming system (currently only have the 1st stage) is at first only a slow motion in the one showers the enemy with x, but that's not so easy to place (read: I still have to practice).
Sound and Music:
The soundtrack one has in this Limited Edition including downloadable, you can the soundtrack but also here at Amazon Preview (Abt. Music).
But playing it initially goes into the soundtrack not with so much. First, it is to me not so noticed, but the music keeps back really pleasant. Almost ethereal sounds of harmonica, fiddle, banjo, mouth harp etc. is beautifully mixed with local sounds of nature especially the animals nearby. Here, a Koyotenjaulen or a wolf growl still the loudest and flies and bees humming is very quiet. Permanent contact diverse birds. But very subtle and natural. In town or farm environment, the soundscape changed very authentic.
Multiplayer:
From the beginning, you can equip your avatar with a variety of outfits and a donkey as a mount, but significantly expand later. As a weapon you have at first a gun and a knife. Other weapons have been gleaned by a shootout remain stored.
There are 4 menu items:
-> Online Public (Multiplayer for everyone): You start in somewhere, but the colorful, moving points on HUD-edge already point out here is what's going on and who are all armed and dangerous. Doc is often also directly invited to a gang to join.
-> Online Privacy (Only invited players): We proceed then to a lot quieter. There are portals to tape games, FFA, etc. and there are areas where you (to wait) is by some missions against AI opponents alone or with friends or with strangers. Here you can fill good new weapons and ammunition.
-> Online Invitations = overview of invitations for you
-> LAN = games on the local network
Conclusion:
There are so many impressions and I'm soo euphoric, I could rave for hours on.
This game is truly exceptional. Once again Rockstar mixed with a whole new product to market.
Red Dead Redemption offers every type of player (Ballermann, malingerer, Ausprobierer, networkers) exactly what he needs and although in pure gold top with thick diamond on it.
Add to that the western theme, because it feels like the middle of a Hollywood movie or spaghetti westerns and although all ever seen together simultaneously. Really amazing!
If you like Western does not even pass the game.
Who is not on Western will still have a lot of fun.
