This novel is the sequel to Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, which takes place almost twenty years later.
Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet go to Constantinople and send their five daughters in London with their uncle.
The five girls are all different from each other. This volume focuses on the second sister Camilla who is the narrator of the novel (it resembles also much to her mother which is a real treat). She will live his own adventure and its own love story taken amid worldly gossip and scandals. But the novel also revolve around other observed sisters of his views to it.
It's a treat to find the mythical characters of Jane Austen as Aunt Lydia for example.
This novel is a great feat and a very nice tribute to Jane Austen. The mind and pen of the author is preserved (although Jane Austen Jane Austen remains of course ..). The novel addresses many social codes and worldly at the time of the regency (balls, scandals ...) and also the role and education of women of the time.
I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it to fans of Jane Austen. We spend a wonderful time to regain his characters and meet new ones.
I look forward to reading Volume 2 The Adventures of Miss Alethea Darcy that features one of the most endearing characters in this book, the little sister Alethea, the musician.
