I am an old fan of Herbie Hancock since the 70s and have all phases of his work - from jazz-funk on Straight Ahead to R & B - disenchanted with something, but not this disc. Is Herbie run out of steam at an older age? This record sounds like the work of a marketing department that has with unlimited budget considering at what could pack an all in one such album to reach the widest possible mainstream audience with the necessary array of stars. Of course, the music is performed properly, they are all professionals at work, but the meaning and purpose in undertaking are nowhere - unless you want to believe the global peace-Bla-Bla-Bla of promo text. Herbie Hancock's piano is occasionally heard in the background, otherwise dominated by the guests from pop and world music. HH is clamped just as namesake, but his personality as a musician or piano playing you have to look with a magnifying glass. Disappointing!
