Thus, the end remains the duel between Samsung NC10 and Asus 1000H GO:
The display: Depending on where you read (Notebookjournal, iX ...) the display of the Asus is significantly or marginally better. However, there is nothing to complain about when NC10 on the display, it is matte and very bright and easy to read even in adverse conditions, and thus the display is not a criterion for me.
Facilities: There is a slight advantage for the Asus 1000H GO because it has been incorporated both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Draft N. However, you can Bluetooth as nano USB stick really easy to retrofit and the advantage of Draft N WLAN I know not, my DSL provides just 6 MBit / s and as the rich b and g standard: For me Draft N is more marketing ... ,
Keyboard: I have not tested the Asus 1000h here in detail and therefore trust in the other tests: The Samsung seems to be a little better here. I type this report in any case on the NC10 and type as well as error-free. The silver coating on the keyboard, however, does not interest me. Despite slight advantage Samsung, total draw ...
Mobility: The Samsung is a little more compact, but does Samsung challenge: Everywhere you can read, that is the NC10 30mm high. That's true but only at the thinnest point, behind it are similar to the Asus in about 38 mm. Nevertheless, the Asus is a bit heavier. When battery life you can read where you want, apparently does the battery of the NC10 1-2 hours longer than the Asus. Furthermore, the Samsung invites its battery really fast. Overall, an important advantage for the Samsung.
Sound: Here the Asus is supposed to be much better. In factory setting the NC10 is certainly evil. Thanks to its equalizer can significantly rectify the NC10, however, so you can simple things like Skype and television done properly. Even listening to music is limited to the NC10. Nevertheless clear advantage Asus
Quality: Processing of Samsung's top, for the Asus I can not speak, unfortunately. Even my Samsung is something of quiet that I can hardly believe it. Mine has a Samsung hard drive and I hear from the device in silent mode absolutely nothing unless it is completely silent and I hold the ears in addition to the fan output. The Asus will probably be something louder.
Significance: This is probably the most subjective section: I do not like the design of the Asus unfortunately, for me it somehow seems a bit like a plastic bomber, but that's a matter of taste. Clearly, however: the white case looks after some time dingy (see Saturn demonstration equipment) and the black Asus attracts fingerprints everywhere, and then also looks modest. The NC10 Likes clearly better and looks for my taste of serious, there is at least from the inside beautiful matt and thus clearly better for me to look at.
Finally, the class is a duel with no losers: everyone can choose the device that his most want to comply. The Asus is slightly better equipped and better sound; Samsung lasts longer, is a little quieter and provides many (incl. me) a higher priority, not least in the good keyboard.
It remains the view of the fog and the anticipated new devices:
The new Samsung have probably all mirrored displays and otherwise rather cosmetic changes, so for me not interesting. Although the Asus 1000HE runs much longer, but has only one half as bright display: Too bad! Other devices with Atom N280 will come, but apparently are not really expected dramatic improvements. The new netbooks with ~ 10 hours of runtime seem probably to be based more on electronic and software tricks. As will arrive in real life is not too much advantage from everyday use.
Thus, for me was a good time to buy, and my favorite: the NC10 with UMTS. Thanks to action by MM weeks I received the memory expansion to 2GB at the price of 499 included. Not bad, not bad at all .....
So far
