I learned DT until a few years ago and only know about the live recording in Budokan. Although I liked the virtuosity of the musicians, but the interaction of music with the singer had a strange thing, with which I could not get warm (later I learned that it was his weakest performance in a live concert). Then I heard SCORE that came over me better overall, but there I was impressed especially the many good songs. So I started the albums to listen and started there with Metropolis P.2 and behold, I was captivated immediately. The singing of La Brie is absolutely not comparable to the studio albums and I like really good now. What, however, had opened was such a tremendous sound world, fascinating songs with hardness and beauty, breathtaking solos and technical brilliance that I could no longer keep me. I now found Octavarium and have to say it is the most balanced for me rock album of the group. It is for me to the best that I listened to metal hitherto. Six Degrees also impressed me very much, because there is a huge scary music is on offer, but Octavarium seemed altogether fresh and has some songs to offer that can not be beat. Dream Theater is to beat for me to drama, power and ability to time by anything!
