Now to some things that did not like me:
* In recording mode iA Intelligent Auto "can not choose the focusing area is generally on Multi." Set, ie be arbitrarily selected several areas for focus; so I can not determine the sharply as alternate object. For me, a knock-out criterion, the iA hard to use.
* In the most widely used of me Mode Program AE "I use for retail Focus AF-S" thus always the autofocus midspan "or Flexible Spot", with which one can determine the ideal desired focus range in the image. Unfortunately, that's just within the real "zoom range (up to 3.6) practicable thereafter -. Even in the extended optical zoom to 5.1 - the entire image area is used for focusing (with indeterminate results!)
The selected setting for the center "AF switches * Even in low light in Program unintentionally automatically in an AF whole image area for these two cases therefore helps only manual focusing (which works very well through magnifying glass and edge enhancement -. Only then most of the bird between the tree branches away !!!)
* There is no focus for infinity "- setting Not even in scene recognition mode." At landscape ": When taking pictures through a window so the window frame or the outside is sharply depending on the orientation of the lens.
* The flash in dark places is generally at 1/30 sec. This results in movement of persons partially blurred because not short enough. Remedy I managed it, as I have on one of 3 memory locations set me a flash mode "with a shutter of 1/60 sec. You just have to always remember also to select this storage program! Fortunately, you can but in this camera mostly on flashing without.
Sure you can rely in most cases on the automatic; nevertheless there is potential for even better images, or on the reduction of disappointments. But for one ought to deal with the features ample time to. Who just snap "wants that can with much more affordable models with good holiday light" deliver quite decent results. But here the audience is indeed another.
From my Panasonic TZ10 I will anyway disconnect now.

After two months of use, I can now say:
I am very happy with the camera, the operating concept as well as the photo quality - up to macro shots. At the edges of my shots a clear sharpness waste can be seen. Macro shooting is obviously not as the strength of the RX100, as we read elsewhere in different posts.
Unlike most compact cameras there are in the RX100 for the focus mode is not the option macro "(in P / A / S / M).
The lens covers obviously generally the entire range of 5 cm (at wide angle - and by 55 cm at the telephoto end) to infinity from. Is actually quite user-friendly that you have not set especially for macro shots.
However, I fail to see why it then "there specially the scene Macro" are among the Scene Selection ?!
I have under the same light and distance conditions (with stand) ever made a macro shot with Programmed Auto, Intelligent Auto, Superior Auto and give the scene program Macro ", and was absolutely no difference in quality notice (but unfortunately not the expected quality); the automatically set values for shutter speed, aperture and ISO were absolutely identical for all modes. So why this scene mode ?!
