Time Out (Audio CD)

Customer Review

The anniversary edition "50th Anniversary: Time Out" Time Out is both Dave Brubeck fans especially recommended as well for jazz enthusiasts who want to get to know Dave Brubeck. In no other Dave Brubeck album is its characteristic - the preference for "odd rhythms" - as clear as on "Time Out" by pieces such as Take Five (5/4), Blue Rondo al la Turk (9/8 time ) or Three to Get Ready (3/4 time and 4/4 time). These titles have lost even 50 years after it appeared none of their originality. On the accompanying DVD Dave Brubeck explains retrospectively each title Time Out album.

For Brubeck fans especially the second CD is interesting, it contains namely previously unreleased live recordings of three Newport gigs of 1961, 1963 and 1964. The recordings with great improvisations are true rarities even in the Brubeck Discography Storb / fishermen are only two of the eight titles listed at all, the Newport concert from 1964 is completely absent in the discography. The recordings have a very good quality. The all-round good impression of the anniversary edition is rounded off by an accompanying booklet, which contains a wealth of interesting information and pictures.
