The first album of Madonna is significantly different from their other albums. Although the melodies are all very catchy and make you want to start dancing, but the lyrics are considered as a whole very monotonous. Most songs are about love. The best that is in my opinion treated in "Burning Up". Madonna languishes herein for love that is not reciprocated. Nevertheless, she does everything to show their love. Here Madonna sounds vocally very strong, although it still strikingly high sings here, as is usual for their first two albums. The track is the Power Dance anthem par excellence, and my absolute favorite tracks on the album for me. Groovy come "Lucky Star", "I Know It," "Think of Me" and "Physical Attraction" therefore. "Holiday" also provides another nice Mediterranean flair.
The worst, in my opinion song on the album is "Everybody", Madonna's very first single in the US. Here it invites to dance and repetitive text runs through through the six-minute, overlong song. But that is the only negative striking tracks on the album.
Bribing so does the album mainly due to its lightweight, pop dance numbers and this fun and humor. I like the CD even better than her follow-up album "Like a Virgin", because it pleases me only half of the album. The first album of the most successful singer in the world "Madonna" is therefore the overall impression better than "Like a Virgin", yet still not one of their best albums. For the Madonna fan but nevertheless indispensable!
