When one takes a mythical hero, the writer and séclipse universe meets the hero and dear subtlety Goscinny. The writer disappears behind the hero skillfully and must remain faithful to the universe of this legendary duo Morris and Goscinny.
This new opus written by Jacques and Laurent Gerra Pessis is just the opposite. Here Lucky Luke is at the service of the two writers and their band of friends: monumental mistake. The author is at the service of the comic book hero. The reverse ever.
Here Daltons become so Tontons. Why not, after they married in a halter. Departure idea might have been attractive if it had been dug, built. Now we see a series of clumsy doeils winks at "the boys". You will discover thinly disguised allusions to "KARL TOWN" Georges Lautner, the Tontons gunslingers, Marc Veyrat etc.
We barely avoided an advertisement for Opticquelquechose, a company for which one of the two writers has turned a commercial.
In the end the album proves to be very boring, despite the rather successful drawings Achdé that stays true up to the Morris.
The error has been monumental to the poor lonesome cowboy advertising character, a serving hatch to the cuckoo buddies. A sloppy script and an ego problem of the two writers who put themselves forward at the expense of the lone cowboy.
The hero is Lucky Luke. No screenwriters.
