Yamaha HPH-PRO400 high fidelity premium headphones (106dB ± 3dB, 3.5mm jack) White (Electronics)

Customer Review

Hello,

after I tested a veritable armada of headphones, I have to say that I arrived happy at Yamaha PRO400.

Previously I had the following models (Reviews to find there): Sony MDR1RS, Audio Technica ATH-WS55i, AKG K551 and K545 AKG and was never really completely satisfied. The AKG K545 I had been there almost until I then in Japan could finally sample hear the complete Yamaha Pro Series. By contrast, the AKG suddenly sounded right flat ...

But the product itself:

Processing and perceived quality:
It comes beautifully packaged incl. 2 cable (1x short and iOS remote control, 1x long and without remote control), an adapter on large jack and a really great, stable protective bag. Unpacking is very reminiscent of Apple's products - it's even Yamaha sticker while the Apple style.
Everything works wonderfully with value and well made - were it not for this furchbare (in my view) design of the headphones themselves, the very reminiscent of beats and monster. This appearance is not really do justice to the glorious sound of the Yamaha's image. Mich nearly abgeschrekt these optics, but now I wear it on the chin ;-)
Unfortunately, I also like the quality of the main plastic used is not very good - I am not sure whether this falls can übersetehen on the asphalt. Hopefully, I have to find out the never ...

Comfort:
Wearing the headset for me doing really well: The Poster completely envelop the ears and press more than once on my earring - because Yamaha is now nothing for and it is also easy to fix. I can not tell if my head is particularly small or large, but I can wear this headset perfect without even ask him only one position higher. The AKG's before I had both each on 4 latching. I can hear time after prolonged sessions of about 1 hour no pain or notice to "hot ears" - so far everything fine!

Sound:
I have in addition to those listed above headphones still a AKG Q460 and an AKG K518 (both of which I concerning the sound liked) possessed and can say with certainty: The Yamaha PRO400 is for me the best sounding most headphones I have ever owned , The basses are quite enhanced, but not dominate the sound. The treble sound, as someone had written in front of me, sexy (but could still be a tiny clear) and the centers are (really very) slightly withdrawn. Despite the emphasis on the bass and the slight decrease center I would still describe him as largely neutral - the beats look is deceptive here, fortunately. Details are reproduced with plenty of space and volume - so much I've never seen in my favorite songs.

Short compared to the PRO500:
Even this I could hear a comparative sample (both with my iPhone and ALAC files) and must say that this model had a uniquely strong bass from my perspective. The heights were indeed just that little bit clearer, I would like to see, but the emphasis on the bass was just way too hard to me. The PRO500 really sounded like what he looks like, namely for a luxury fun headphones for bathtubs EQ fans. For ersthaften hearing he is no longer in my opinion.
The PRO300 much for me out immediately, because it sounded thin in each area and also was not over-ear but an on-ear.

So why only 4 stars?
1. because I the original price (over 200 euros) just too high find (even if, after all, a super bag is offered to compared with the AKG K545), and
2. because I had to exchange it for a small quality Mangeld once: Without external forces broke up within the first week a poster from the headphones. It was very difficult to get his hands back on it and no longer considered as good as before. With such a price-conscious, I found the article clearly not appropriate and exchanged to - at this point my thanks to Amazon for easy handling!

Conclusion:
Sonically a dream come true - about 90% of my claim reached! Accessories are great and useful - only the design and the plastic verwendte meet me too much the zeitgeist and the (sound) quality simply does not do justice.
Let you not deter from Design - the sound is worth it!

--------------------------------------------
PS:
I have to change a lot of new products due to defects in the past 1-2 years, and there are more and more (see reviews). Production is apparently saved from bad to worse and unqualitativer, is at all - who does not know? Nevertheless, prices remain "self-confident", if only because of the brand name.

I hope this will soon rethink the manufacturer instead - it's no fun to have to replace constantly expensive technology, and this one then under warranty does not in any manufacturer whose equipment was quickly broken ;-)
