On their debut album -Worrisome Heart- Melody Gardot plays even a trace more toward popular music, as in the successor. There are a few pieces that are reminiscent in arrangement and sequence of sounds a bit like Norah Jones. Where Gardot with her voice the songs their own stamp on.
Playing tips: -Love me like a river does-. For me as a soundtrack in the mediocre film "La Linea" the highlight of the film. A song that goes dark and sad under the skin. -Quiet Firewall is one of the songs that remind a bit of Norah Jones. An incredibly harmonious interplay between guitar, wind instruments and Gardots voice. -Worrisome Heart- is the classic jazz bar song. Casually, almost lasciviously, the piece ripples siren regardless of the speakers. -All I need is love- is a timeless piece that could have come from the 60s, 70s or 80s, with a wonderful clarinet in the background. -Gone- Acts like a helping hand towards pop, a ballad that is almost radio friendly.
The rest of the CD convinced (at least me) wholeheartedly. Melody Gardot is evolving. The lady from New Jersey is still quite young and I'm already excited to see how it will go on. Who knows, maybe we will talk in a few years by "the Gardot". Who can in this fast-paced time in the music business today say? The makings of a big time Melody Gardot has definitely.
