The device should be used from the outset as an exclusive Linux device, so I have decided to use the version without an operating system; because of the good reviews, I then also taken the faster processor Pentium 957 with 4GB of memory and 500GB hard drive. The 4GB I then expanded with a further 4 GB of memory to 8GB. But here is: the expectation was not disappointed, the device is really very fast.
The netbook comes with no preset UEFI, so normal BIOS. This completes the installation of Linux Mint 14 Nadia worked perfectly; also a parallel Windows Linux installation should be easy.
The function keys also work immediately properly, only the buttons for Brightness control must be activated (workaround s. At the bottom).
The card reader I did not get up and running, but it did not bother me (it hardly use anyway). In addition, it is expected (was with my old HP 110 also so) that then works with a new version of Linux Mint.
The unit is very quiet; so far it has only one - or twice raced the fan for a minute, then it will be but a little louder. It is also not very hot, so you can have it quite well on his knees.
The speed is great and can be with my two-year old HP 110 with Atom processor not compare. All applications can be started very quickly, even under the emulated PlayOnLinux MS Office runs really well. Colleagues of mine stopped the device because of the speed and the appearance at first for an Ultrabook - but I'm honest.
What bothers me somewhat, is the screen display on an external monitor or projector. The image looks slightly dull and slightly out of focus on the VGA connector - as my old HP 110 was significantly better. With the HDMI connection, the picture is top - for the mouse slightly delayed. Since I do not know if that is on the screen, there is no devaluation (which I would find for such a portable device anyway doubtful). Then again, I've worked 5 or 6 hours on the big screen - soooooo annoying so that is not.
In summary, my device even after two months still have fun.
Supplement (09/07/2014): with Linux Mint 17 (LTS version) is detected, the SD card immediately, the brightness is adjustable and the delay of the mouse when HDMI is gone. The device is, however, I fell down (in the case), then the display is only white. I use it now a just a workstation computer. During transport the unit should be so good save (extra envelope or so).

And here is the workaround for the screen brightness
First, you add in the / etc / default / grub an option:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quiet splash acpi_backlight = vendor"
And after you run the command update-grub from. The change takes effect after the next start.
Who the brightness at the start is too bright, can enter into /etc/rc.local following command:
# Darkness Display
echo 500> / sys / class / backlight / intel_backlight / Brightness
