The Catcher in the Rye (Paperback)

Customer Review

The story of Holden Caulfield struck me when I read it the first time. I was 14. This has become my favorite book. That's why I read it. Obviously, reading is different at 14 and 34 years.
But it is not only a novel accessible to adolescents. Moreover, it is very very far from any literature for youth, as understood today. It is a deep, depressive novel, addressing themes such as violent rejection of others, rebellion against society, appearance, average people.

The wandering of the teenager in New York after his dismissal from the school confronts us with our own emotions, and I'm doing with a tear in the eye every time. When I read the questions one who wants to become the "Catcher in the Rye" arises, to get rid of his depression. Sadness!
This hyper sensitivity introverted young adult, uncomfortable in society is reminiscent clairvoyance misfits beings simply because they are gifted for example.
