History
Throughout the book we will follow Fitz of life, young bastard Chivalry Loinvoyant heir to the throne of the Six Duchies. Fitz must survive without father (who abdicated from the beginning of the story) in the castle of Castelcerf. It is entrusted to Burrich, gruff man with a tender heart and master the stables.
One day Fitz going to meet a mysterious old man who will soon begin his Assassin training in the pay of aging king Subtle. A course guides are, but it was without counting on the attacks of pirates and mysterious red's hatred Royal him, the youngest of Loinvoyants.
Characters and Style
Personally I find that we touch the strong point of this cycle, the wealth of different characters and writing in the first person. We will quickly identify with Fitz, we will love with him, we feel free or enslaved and Royal and hate those red pirates that hurt the population of the Six Duchies. Psychology and the character of the characters are often put forward without being caricatured: Beauty Molly, the paternal Umbre, abnegation of Truth, the mysterious Fou, the inflexible Kettricken. And so on! Each protagonist is a wealth without forgetting to amaze us occasionally.
Here the narrator is Fitz, tacitly we seal an implicit pact with him, we give him the right to tell his story. The style first-person is often a risk in size, we have the impression that the narrator tells an ancient history and we clumsily hides major plot elements. In the Royal Assassin, nothing like that, writing is rich without being complex and narration in the first person is a success!
Translation
One point that we do not speak often but important. Very often translations leave something to be desired for fantasy books. Here none of this, translation Cycle is simply perfect. A very neat work that deserves recognition!
In short, if you're a fan of the genre, everything I have just written above is irrelevant since you've read for a long time this classic fantasy.
To all those who are looking for adventure and above all the escape, I can only advise you of the Universe Hobb. A book to put all hands, and from an early age.
