Although I know Porcupine Tree a few years and very happy to hear, I bought a few days ago to complete my collection, "Up The Downstair / Staircase Infinities". Sure, I've been a few pieces of this album known. Some can be found already in other albums. One of my favorite songs of the album, the driving "Synesthesia" is indeed to "The Stars". Even with a guitar very nicely played and partly reminiscent of Pink Floyd song "Always Never" is a blast. Yes, and then comes for me the highlight of the CD with "Up The Downstair". This title track I hear a lot of space and influences from Hawkwind. "Not Beautiful Anymore" is the great guitar playing pleasure. With the song "Small Fish" comes to some relaxation. A wonderful ballad. The penultimate track "Burning Sky" is still so an ingenious prank Porcupine Tree offers us on this Silberling. It lasts 11:37 minutes and has very nice melodic guitar runs. In the last part of it is me then really warm around my heart. Just fabulous. CD 2 (Staircase Infinities) starts the somewhat jazzy "Cloud Zero". The guitar on this track is somewhat reminiscent of Santana. The next song "The Joke's On You" begins with an acoustic guitar and played a very quiet singing of Steven Wilson. "Navigator" is then a very psychedelic, but absolutely not overexcited, seeming piece. "Rainy Taxi" sounds as if Richard Wright standing with his organ Pate. The second CD ends with "Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape". Again us a great guitar is offered. This exceptionally great early work the band had me really wanting. Anyone who likes resound Porcupine Tree or Pink Floyd from his boxing leaves, which was advised this album.
