Far from the "cursed Kings", this bio of Philip the Fair tries to restore the truth, if possible. No real portrait of the monarch, not really text of it, we came so far, Minois tells us just the facts and the life of his reign. The book is very big but reads easily. Even if you can "jump" a few passages where Minois likes to digress on some subjects. Lists are sometimes a little long. One can also skip, we know they are there if you need it later. Very serious and rigorous work. Not only on the life of Philip IV but also about the workings of feudalism, the Holy See multiple policy and hunting revenue by introducing new taxes at any cost ... Very good read.
