Packing
The Lenovo Flex comes in an optimal packaging. Well protected, sufficiently large. No exaggerated frills, environmentally friendly manner. Fits!
Delivery
A bit boring. Laptop, charger cable. That's it. More you also do not need. There is no recovery CD, Windows CD or anything on board. Frankly, you do not need that too, but is intended to give people who have a CD is a certain level of security. The charging cable / power adapter is small and light, and it is something fall short. But is not a problem.
Weight & Cases
The notebook is lightweight and thus very suitable for mobile use. I can not quite understand the complaints about the torsional rigidity of the housing. It creaks not, the display is fixed and does not wobble, for me absolutely OK. Even with one hand you can carry your notebook easily. Should you open it with both hands. And .. what concerning the reviews. Stability concerns .. Well, you have to put it is not necessarily, that is clear. For any normal use, the housing is optimally suited.
Display
The 15-inch display was the reason for the purchase. What was needed was a notebook with touch screen. What can I say - perfect. Windows 8.1 is pre-installed and ready for operation via touch gestures. It takes only 2 minutes to adapt to it, that you can suddenly navigate even with a notebook by swiping. Very useful. Zooming with two fingers similar to Android or iOS, wiping for the next picture, etc. For a few, you have to find out, it takes time until you win 8.1 can operate quickly in full. If you have internalized the gestures but once the operation's really fun. In any case, less cumbersome than the operation via touch pad, which nevertheless responded well and could do anything it can to. The display is sufficiently bright in sunny weather you do not have to sit in the blazing sun. In that case you will not see anything more. I know of no device, no tablet, smartphone yet Notebook, in which it would be different. In addition, you do not want to ruin his eyes also, right?
The name Flex is because you can fold down the notebook. Why this may be useful? Especially in situations, such as the train makes sense. Display folded down (the surface with keyboard to the base plate, as evidenced by the slightly recessed keyboard is not a problem) and the notebook becomes a giant tablet, which can stand alone. For example, for watching movies, photos, etc. Perfect! To write to use in this case, the on-screen keyboard, which is very ergonomic and therefore makes little fun. Not optimum use this mode when you sit on the couch. Here the classic mode is used.
Keyboard:
Everything perfect. A little softer pressure point, but very good to use. It makes sense to the backlight, which enables operation of the keyboard even in dark rooms. When using the tablet mode automatically comes on-screen keyboard to light, which is also very easy to use.
Speed
As described above, the performance of the notebook for everyday tasks is more than enough. The notebook is not a substitute for a workstation, it is not ideally suited to gamble on the latest games or rendering video. Although performing, but is naturally slow. Who wants to do such tasks should still forking out 1,000 euros and pick up another device. Startup is thanks to the SSD drive that is of sufficient size 250GB, super fast. The device is ready for use in about 3 seconds. Important: it is easily possible to play movies in HD.
Software
Preinstalled is Windows 8.1, setting the first start going suerschnell. Takes about 5 minutes. Network etc. is detected automatically. The additional software from Lenovo, you can safely forget. There's nothing unusual there. Nett is the feature of the user recognition. Is to say, after a one-time setup, the software recognizes the user on the camera image and logged him automatically to his account. I find super, to my knowledge, the photo is saved only offline, which should reassure privacy sensitive people.
Others
Warning, the notebook comes without a DVD drive. For all those who would like to have a built-in, this device is therefore not suitable. I got me a superslim external DVD drive (incl. Burner) bought that I can connect as needed via USB. Costs around 20 euros and fits. Conclusion: DVDs you need less and less, and without drive a few grams are saved again.
The device has enough connections. If you need more USB ports, can at any time to buy a USB hub or a generic docking station. What would have been nice would be a DVI output. You can connect the notebook to a monitor only via HDMI, which is also state of the art.
So. But why only 4 stars?
An important criterion for a laptop is the battery life. The is plenty of weak. 2.5 hours of power off - to use the device a little more intense, after 2. This is not adequate and leads to a star trigger.
Conclusion:
Flexible, mobile, enough power. Touchscreen responds super and is perfect to use. Equipment is adequate, other models can certainly offer more (I no longer need). Battery life is the only shortcoming in this complacent designetem device. Would I buy it again!
