The historian Jacques Le Goff responds to simple questions that could pose curious children (but also adults) to the Middle Ages. Text nice, well built, easy to read, clear and really informative (at least for me!). We appreciate the willingness of the historian to present this period of more than a thousand nuanced, non Manichean, distinguishing, to better unite, a "good" Middle Ages a "villain" Middle Ages. Many topics are covered (duration, knights, castles, cathedrals, contemporary medieval, religion, imagination, culture ...); they come indicate the wealth of that period. The first book is the following sentence: "It is important to know the past to understand the present, to know how we keep, how we separate ourselves from him." Reading is out of this little book by being a little more convinced of this sentence. Thank you Mr. Le Goff.
