Customer Review

Blues was once a "black" music ... and there was a time in which the Jimi Hendrix Experience represented the measure of all things. Hendrix would still be alive, what would it sound like today?

Of course, the question is pointless. No one knows how Hendrix would deal with recent musical developments such as hip hop, heavy metal, or trance. But the debut CD of PGP sounds a little bit as if. The left-handed playing ex guitar prodigy Eric Gales has recorded a few years ago with Buddy Miles and Billy Cox, the CD "The Band of Gypsys Return", Doug Pinnicks ordinary band King's X sound sometimes like a Hendrix Beatles Mother's Pearl Jam Finest- synthesis, and Thomas Pridgen of Mars Volta and Suicidal Tendencies is a groove monster on drumkit. To make matters worse is Creams "Sunshine Of Your Love" gecovert so are likely to be unique musical references staked.

Plus points of the trio are songwriting, virtuosity and enthusiasm: The CD rocks and grooves like hell - and a playing time of over 70 minutes. This is music with soul, 50% arranged and improvised 50%. Producer Mike Varney has not in any of its projects a knack, but here everything fits. Five Stars.
