Goldsmith in his element!

Supergirl (Audio CD)

Customer Review

This score reflects not only the tremendous ingenuity of the composer Jerry Goldsmith, who has produced some of his best work in the fantasy genre, but it also conveys impressively how much entertainment taste prevailed in the 80s. In the wake of "Superman" movie this colorful tale with the now forgotten Helen Slater was in the title role, in supporting roles stars like Mia Farrow, Faye Dunaway and Peter O'Toole. The whole thing seems like a glaring Atari videogame with effects that fade naturally today, but is interesting to look at than 80s product for nostalgics. This is excellent in music to fruition. The cover story sounds at first hearing as a poor imitation of John Williams scores for Superman, but on closer listening clearly independent and definitely gorgeous, especially in the variant "Flying Ballet". The CD offers 70 minutes of music a variety of orchestral climaxes until fireworks electronic sounds with which you can experience a 80s revival. For friends bombastic fantasy music.
