The field of application of this converter is that watching movies on my analog TV 80cm. Connected to the adapter is as follows.
- From the PC (video card Club 3D HD 5570 1024MB) to the adapter via VGA cable.
- From the adapter to TV via (Video) RCA (yellow plug). This in turn is connected to at a scart adapter and Scart adapter finally. To a Scart socket of the TV
Since I've bought a new PC and offer today's graphics cards no analog TV out more, had to be such an adapter.
I had first for a review here fear that the PC adjusts automatically on the PC monitor the resolution of the adapter (ie, whenever the adapter would be plugged into the VGA, also a 1920x1080 Full HD monitor to the maximum resolution would change the adapaters (1280x1024)). This is not like that. The resolutions of PC monitor and TV are completely separate, at least wnen, like me, has the PC monitor connected digitally via DVI.
Now for commissioning. Unlike some reviews here and the enclosed handout (English only), it is not so that you would only connect the adapter, then you would also have an image of the device connected to the adapter. I had connected the adapter and yet I got to "AV-1" (the entrance to the Scart connection of the TV) no signal.
I had only the Catalyst Control Center (v11.2) in the menu item "desktop management \ Creating and Arranging Desktops" the "Ads recognize" let routine run to enable the television output.
So now an image was already there, but it flickered quite violently. The device has an OSD (On Screen Display) with which you can control the output. Unfortunately me this menu was not immediately self-explanatory. It took me several minutes to realize that actually did something, if I operated on the "left" and "right" of the control elements of the adapter. For some menu items such as "flicker" (more on that later) It is not immediately apparent whether you just changed something. The OSD is itself, unfortunately, absolutely no feedback and also in the handout to operate the OSD is explained only rudimentary.
In addition to position the image vertically / horizontally, you can also adjust brightness, color saturation, etc ... The main menu is but "flicker". Here you can quietly compose the image. Here I come now to the most criticism. With the included VGA cable no flicker-free image was hinzubekommen. In 2 reviews here was even said that the VGA cable would even have been very defective. Anyway, I then compared that which I had the monitor replaced the VGA adapter cable and lo and behold, the flicker belonged to the past. I would like to note that I have already used a good Chinchkabel, so I've not even tried The included RCA cable adapter here.
Conclusion:
The adapter makes finally a great service and lets the old (but still very good) tube TV not be useless. With a good VGA cable (the supplied adapter cable, you can, as also suggested by the price, only be described as waste. A separate, high-quality VGA cable is mandatory) is the image quality equivalent to the Videoout a graphics card. The course no picture is output, as one would expect on the PC, each should be obvious. The output on a television set is used solely for the films look for work, surfing, etc .. It is suitable in any way. This is also impossible due to the native resolution of a tube TV. For the result, take the somewhat cumbersome commissioning and very spartan "manual" in purchasing. The films do not stutter at me the way. They are the same as before from the Videoout the graphics card.
Overall, the adapter is recommended!
