Admittedly, this is a work that would try to describe as minimalist, though the textured sounds, deep and wide, which could be comparable in its approach that had Desplat for The Tree Of Life, but the comparison s' stops there. Surprisingly, I'm not sure I recognized immediately the leg of Hans Zimmer in a blind test. Surprisingly again, the song Coward to vigorous piano reminds me a partition Horner Sneakers. Note the ubiquitous organ composition gives this the look of a cathedral, sometimes.
Anyway, the trip takes place in a soaring musical space on the far horizon over long waves in warm colors and generous, just heckled by some cold waves and a tad invigorating. Overall impression of wandering detours of a vast mysterious setting. Undoubtedly, the work carries me, but does not transcend it.
All in all, good Hans Zimmer!
